Keeping You in the Loop

Keeping you in the loop:
We haven’t stopped thinking about you!
Since we first posted this “Keeping you in the Loop” video at the beginning of the COVID-19 restrictions, a lot has changed.

What It Was Like in 2020

Like everyone else, we were trying to navigate the crazy times, to the best of our abilities. We were experiencing challenges. The Sheddon Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic team was exploring ways to help you maintain contact with us and let us know how you were doing, and if you had any questions about your care.

Telehealth was new to many and allowed us to connect with you and maintain some form of therapy. Telehealth allowed us to evaluate, diagnose, and treat you from a distance – reducing the risk of viral transmission and maintaining social distancing. We also found it had the advantage of letting us assess things that were previously too difficult. Having first-hand visuals of your home helped the clinician to customize your rehabilitation to best suit your needs in conjunction with your set-up and space.

We were open for business, even though our doors were closed!

Like other health professionals and businesses that relied on face-to-face interactions, our multidisciplinary healthcare team had to be creative and innovative in the way we delivered care during the pandemic. We predict that many of these changes are likely to have a lasting impact on the healthcare industry.

What It Is Like Now

Fast-forward three years, and the uncertainty and unpredictability of the pandemic has had a profound impact on businesses in Canada, leading to both opportunities and challenges.

With multiple outbreaks and variants, the situation remains fluid. But we are all now better at navigating these rapidly changing circumstances.

While we at Sheddon Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic have always put your health – and the health of our therapists and staff – first, we have added some safeguards to our sanitary SOPs:

  • We wear masks to reduce the risk of exposure to respiratory droplets and other bodily fluids.
  • We have implemented physical distancing measures, such as reducing the number of patients in the waiting room, to reduce the risk of transmission.

What Has Not Changed

As the saying goes, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Some aspects of our practice have not changed despite the disruption over the last 36 months:

  • We still hope that you are healthy, safe, and surrounded by loved ones.
  • We still offer Sports Medicine Doctors, as well as specialized therapists who  are ready to serve you, our clients.
  • We are still answering our phones, if you need to contact us. We will return your call if we don’t immediately connect.
  • Sheddon Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic is open to serve you in person. You still get individualized one on one treatment and a plan of care that is specific for your health needs.
  • To maintain a healthy treatment environment for you, our therapists have always taken hygiene precautions:
-We frequently wash our hands or use hand sanitizers before and after treating each patient, as well as after handling equipment and surfaces.
-We regularly clean and disinfect equipment, surfaces, and treatment rooms between patients to reduce the risk of infection.
  • Getting you back to activity safely with faster healing and quicker pain relief is still the reason why we coordinate with your coaches, trainers, and fitness instructors.
  • You do have access to Innovative treatments and modalities in our relaxed but professional environment.

In Case of Emergency

If you are in need of urgent care, patients can contact us via phone 905-849-4576 or email admin@sheddonphysio.com and we will work with you to help guide you on your next steps.

We would like to keep the Urgent Care Clinics in Oakville free to treat non-orthopaedic injuries. If we suspect that further investigation is necessary, we will direct you to go to the nearest Urgent Care Clinic. If this is life threatening, you should call 9-1-1.
